Frequently Asked Questions
If I have an existing injury, can I still participate in your classes?
Always check with a physician before starting any fitness program. With your doctor's approval to begin working out, all of our classes are accessible to meet your specific needs as long as you inform your instructor of the injury. Through out class, we offer modifications so that you can get the most out of the workout while still honoring the injury.
What types of home fitness equipment do you recommend I have for Align & Define classes?
Don't wait to begin until you have all the equipment! Get started right away because you do not need equipment to start building your strength. Instructors use a variety of equipment such as light weights and resistance bands, all of which can be purchased for under $20. For a list of recommended (but not necessary equipment,) click here. These items are the suggested styles, but any version of the equipment works!
I'm not sure I'm ready to commit. Do you offer a free trial?
Yes! Your first class at Align & Define is always free. Just add the free class to your basket and we will email you the Zoom login. If you can't use it right away, you have 3 months to take a class.
I am new to Barre-style fitness. What should I expect, and can I handle Align & Define classes?
You can absolutely handle our classes at any fitness level! Each class is about 50 minutes long, and is a total body workout. Expect your instructor to lead you through multiple exercises targeting one muscle group, before moving onto the next. Barre fitness is characterized by heavy repetition using light resistance or body weight only. All workouts are low to medium impact, with instructors providing opportunities to make the work more challenging or to simplify and focus on form.
How do I log into Zoom classes? How do I access the Vimeo video library?
When you purchase a membership or a single class, you will be emailed a Zoom link. When it is time for your class to begin, just click on the zoom link and join us! At this time, all classes use the same login ID to keep it simple for our clients.
The vimeo video library can be accessed here. When you have purchased a membership, you will be given a password to log in.
How will I be notified of schedule changes, events and promotions?
Please enter your email in the "connect" box above, join our private Facebook group, and follow our Instagram account. We will always notify our community members of special events and changes to the schedule beforehand.
I am pregnant, trying to get pregnant or newly postpartum. Can I still participate in Align & Define classes?
Always consult your physician first, but in most cases, barre-style fitness is perfect for women in their childbearing years at any stage of pregnancy. Notify your instructor before class, and she will provide modifications for pregnant and postpartum moms. The work we do in Align & Define is specifically tailored to meet women in any stage of life. Part of that is a focus on strengthening the core through abdominal and pelvic floor work, both crucial for moms. Rest assure that your instructors are knowledgable in safe movement for moms!
Do you provide nutritional guidance or diet plans?
At Align & Define, we believe in moving your body for a general sense of wellness, strength and feeling good. While we recognize the importance of adequate fluid intake and nutrient-rich foods, we are not certified nutritionists and do not support diet culture so will not provide nutritional advice. We do offer a monthly meal plan when you join our Facebook group, but it is not monitored for nutritional "completeness," nor is it intended to be YOUR meal plan. It is simply a tool to make your daily job of feeding yourself and others easier! Consult a physician for any nutritional guidance.
